This lovely HDR composite of totality shows the corona with prominences and streamers, but also captures an unusual phenonemon: earthshine during totality. The sun's corona is so much brighter than the new moon that during totality the moon's surface cannot be seen. This image captures some of the moon's surface detail as illuminated by the reflection of the sun off the earth.
